Redline Raid
Whatever you do, dont take the Redline T&T Raid to be just another kids bicycle. Though it is, in fact, ideal transportation for Juniors daily school-trek, the Raid benefits from all the inherent engineering and racing experience that Redline brings to the table.
Sharing its strong and lightweight frame with many other, more expensive bikes in Redlines arsenal, The Raid can promise year-to-year durability nearly unsurpassed in this niche. If you doubt this fact, then feel free to hit up eBay to see how many 10-year old Raids you see for sale. All over the place, you see “used but good as new,” which is par for the course for this excellent first BMX’er. Generally, the only reason anyone ever replaces a Raid is if it gets run over, or replaced with a higher-option model.
However, that may not be necessary at all. As the bottom of the totem pole in a line that runs all the way to full-fledged racers, the Raid benefits from almost unlimited upgradeability.
It may indeed be cheaper to buy the Raid and have junior hot rod it himself over time than to invest in the most high-strung racer in the T&T line. With the Raids already excellent performance, that may not be particularly necessary, but its always nice to know they could. Plus, if you believe in paying for labor, it gives the kid a reason to mow the lawn when hes not out riding.
