Giant GFR XL
The Giant GFR series is a good beginner’s collection of dirt and street BMX bikes. They are all very reasonably low priced with great specifications for their tag.
The GFR XL is in that bracket although the big difference is the size of frame in comparison to the GFR FB and the GFR CB; the XL is larger at 20.3 inches. So if you require a larger frame strong and affordable quality dirt bike to start your career, you can’t go wrong with the quite lightweight GFR XL.
Specs – With the GFR XL you get a complete team blue colored frame manufactured in high tensile steel, with oversize and oval top tube. Seatstay V-Brake mounts and integrated seat clamp. The forks have tough high tensile steel legs and a Chromoly steerer. The brakes are Tektro direct-pull cantilever with a Tektro alloy pull brake. The crank set up is Chromoly 36 tooth and tubular with alloy platform peddles.
Giant also give you Kenda K-Rad tires kindly inflated around strong alloy rims both at the front and rear with 36-holes and toughened alloy hubs, nicely completed with BED spokes. Let’s not forget the steel handlebars with a 7.25 inch rise and an alloy stem.
Conclusion – This is a fantastic 20.3 inch bike for beginners who want something tough to ensure a good start in the sport of BMX. The bike is not heavy at all and will cope with a lot of the abuse you will throw at it over your learning curve. Mid level riders may even want to take this into their fold as a good quality affordable bike when the circumstances arise where you may not be able to splash out $600 for a high end model.
