GT Calafia
GT stepped up to the plate in 2009 with a lot of their BMX concepts, the 2009 GT Calafia is one of them. This baby has been overhauled from the previous couple of years and it shows. It is a machine built to impress, you just have to see it to know that the bike is an impressive bit of kit. The Calafia has always been a good smooth ride with nice specifications; this version is no different – very impressed!
Specs – Okay the frame is pretty much typical GT, it is the 2008 design with 100% Chromoly tubing, Chromoly "MID SIZE" BB shell a Chromoly machined head tube for the integrated headset, Chromoly 5mmT. Dropouts and some handy bolt-on GYRO cable guides. Thats Chromoly in a big way but its not finished there, the Calafia has: The 2008 GT dirt/street design forks that are fully Chromoly also, 2007 dirt/street dual radius handlebar in you guessed it Chromoly.
These Tektro brakes are probably one of the best in the Tektro range, the Calafia houses: Tektro FX-15D with linear spring and single anchor bolts on a cold forged aluminum U-brake with hinged clamp Tektro 275A lever, built in aluminum. The rims are a gorgeous white Alienation Black Sheep double-walled and rear Joy-Tech cassette hub and GT branded front hub… oh lets not forget the GT shroom style grips.
Conclusion – Well one definitely for the book of good looking bikes. The GT Calafia is a gorgeous BMX it has the makings of a classic when you take a look at the specs and design. This fantastic piece of equipment is going to be seen with some great custom modifications by the pros – definitely one to be looking out for, even better adding to the collection before they all get sold!
