Ah the GT Performer, this is a classic among BMX bikes but the 2009 version looks nothing like it predecessors. This is a BMX that has always been renowned for being great in the air or on the road. It has always been a bike for performance hence the name Performer. This BMX is probably going to appeal to oldschool fans and current riders who wish just to have owned a GT Performer. Although the bike has changed overall throughout the years you can still almost see the original GT Performer within the 2009 models makeup.
Specs – The Performers frame is in the 2009 GT street design it has 3 main Chromoly built tubes and a machined headtube. The frame has handy welded on GYRO cable guides keeping things nice and tidy. GT have stuck with the 2005 GT Freestyle design for the forks with forged dropouts and high tensile steel 2007 GT dirt/street handlebars with dual radius bend and a 7” rise. The pedals are aluminum bodied 2005 GT Dirt/Street platform design with Chromoly axle.
The rims are aluminum Alex G22 with 48 holes and a 38mm width. The front hubs are 2005 Aluminum bodied GT branded, sealed Mechanism, 14mm Chromoly axle with 48 holes. Conclusion – The GT Performer will stand the test of time, I wouldnt be surprised if we see a version of the bike for the next 50 years. The name GT Performer provokes memories for many oldschool BMX riders and will no doubt build memories for riders just turning to the GT Performer page!
