GT Power Series Jr
There was once a great man in the world of automotive racing named Colin Chapman, who was oft quoted as saying “Light is right.” The Power series Junior follows Mr. Chapmans mantra perfectly, and stands as the Lotus of the BMX lineup.
Designed for smaller, lighter adult riders, everything that could be shaved or replaced with lighter materials has been. The legendary T-6061 aluminum frame has been retained of course, though it is marginally smaller in dimension compared to the Expert. The wheel bearings are smaller, both to reduce weight and rotational resistance in the bearings, allowing for much faster starts.
As consistent with this range of the Power series, the strength of the Box-Ultras Chromoly cranks has been shelved for aluminum units, and even the aluminum brake levers have been replaced by lighter weight fiber-composite pulls, for an overall weight reduction of approximately 16 grams.
And what do all these improvements amount to? The Junior is, at its core more a racer than a trickster. As in many high performance applications strength and redundancy have made room for speed, but not for nothing.
The Power Series Junior is a demon out of the gate and a ghost over the doubles, and definitely worth looking at if youre on the small side and speed is your game.
