Recognizing that many hardcore racers were modifying its one-time zenith, the Power Series XL, with the best in aftermarket parts to gain an edge, GT decided to spare its customers the wrench time and put the whip to the Power Series aluminum frame.
The XL already sported some of the best hardware this side of the exotic-materials bracket. A race-proven T-6061 aluminum frame, 180mm TruVative racing cranks and Alex rims made the XL a reliable rocket capable of scraping the wild blue yonder at will, and powerful Tektro brakes put a stop to things quickly. The Ultra box takes this formula and expands it further, with lighter wheels, even stronger brakes, and a complete upgrade and replacement of everything that ever broke on an XL.
