“Outwit and Outlast,” those TV-inspired adjectives are suitable for this bike, but could just as easily be “out-run,” “out-spend” (in a good way), and “out-law.”
Just a couple of pieces shy of Haros top-line offering, the F4 offers 95% of the strength and performance at 75% of the cost. Sporting a frame made almost entirely of race-grade Chromoly steel, there wont be much to break when the sparks begin to fly. Frankly, as powerful as this “second-best” frame is, if you manage to do something dumb enough to bend the thing you probably wont find out till you get out of the hospital 6 months later.
If you can name a name-brand part, chances are the F4 come with it. 48H double wall Alex rims, full Tektro brakes, sealed Chromoly 3-piece crankset, Winzip rotor and some of the strongest forks in the industry. In fact, the only thing the F4 doesnt have as compared to the top-line F5 is a 100% chromoly frame, snazzier rims, seat-stay brake mounts and day-glo green paint.
Indeed, if you can live without the green paint then youre unlikely to ever need the last few amenities that the F5 offers. Unless youre sponsors paying for a new ride, then do yourself a favor and go with the F4, and make sure to budget $3 for a can of green spray-paint.
