Mongoose Motivator FW
The Bike
The Motivator FW is a dirt/street BMX bike priced at the bottom end of the market and aimed at riders taking their first taste of BMX to see if they like it. Its got a suave black and gold paint job, but underneath that is a basic bike with the basic fixings.
The Details
First up, the Motivator is a steel-framed monster with forks of steel. There isnt the margins for the light-weight Cromo at this end of the market. Calling it a monster is no insult to the bike. The frame can take the punishment any track or street can throw in front of it, but it will take a strong rider to make this bike really fly.
The hubs and the twenty inch rims did get the alloy treatment, but the spokes - steel. Luckily the single rear Tektro Alloy V-brake is up to the job of stopping this bike. Up front and underneath a coat of "gold" is a standard set of handlebars. The seat is a Mongoose generic junior seat with a matching splash of "gold".
The Verdict
For the price the Mongoose Motivator is a great introduction to dirt/street BMX. And anyone who starts on this beast will fly when they graduate to the upper, alloy end of the market.
